Multilingual Video Competition (MLVC)

The IEEE MTT-S MLVC competition aims to promote the creation of technical videos in different languages on topics of interest to the MTT-S community, broadening the reach and impact of MTT-S educational efforts worldwide.

Students enrolled at universities or research centers anywhere in the world are invited to submit a technical video recorded in Spanish or Portuguese. The top six competitors will receive funding to attend the 2026 IEEE MTT-S Latin America Microwave Conference, to be held in Buenos Aires, Argentina, from December 9 to 11, 2026.

Video Goal and Scope

Explain a technical concept related to the topics of LAMC 2026 in a clear and engaging manner that is accessible to engineering and science students in the early stages of their studies. Highlight the fundamental concepts and current practices in the field, and inspire viewers by presenting a forward-looking perspective on future developments.

Awards

Prizes of USD 1,300, USD 1,000, and USD 700 will be awarded for first, second, and third place, respectively. Three prizes will be awarded for submissions in Spanish and three for submissions in Portuguese, for a total of six prizes.

Rules

  • The video must include both audio and video and be submitted in .MP4 or .WMV format. The spoken language must be Spanish or Portuguese.
  • The video may include up to three static slides to support the explanation of the concepts.
  • The maximum video duration is 3 minutes. Videos exceeding this limit will be automatically disqualified.
  • The video must contain only original material and must not include content from other sources.
  • The video topic must be related to one or more topics listed in the LAMC 2026 Call for Papers.

Eligibility

  • The competitor must be an undergraduate or graduate student enrolled at a university or research institute in any country. Proof of enrollment must be submitted with the video.
  • The competitor must be able to travel to the conference if selected for an award. Travel funding is not provided.
  • The competitor must agree to have the submitted video published through IEEE MTT-S websites, social media channels, and other IEEE MTT-S events.

Review Process

Applications will be received by the LAMC 2026 MLVC organizers and verified for eligibility.

Eligible videos will be evaluated by a LAMC 2026 MLVC Evaluation Committee, composed of judges who are native speakers of Spanish and Portuguese, using the following evaluation criteria.

Evaluation Criteria

Technical Content and Clarity (60 points): Is the video relevant to the topics of LAMC 2026? Does it accurately present the technical concepts? Are the concepts explained in a clear and easy-to-understand manner? Are current practices discussed? Does the video present forward-looking ideas and concepts related to the topic?

Communication and Engagement (40 points): Does the presenter communicate the concepts and ideas in an engaging manner? Is the material presented clearly and at an appropriate pace? Are the audio and video of acceptable quality? Does the presenter demonstrate professionalism in both language and visual presentation?
